IUCN and the UN Decade Ecosystem Restoration Hub: Success Stories and Guidance from Africa
The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030) is a rallying call for the protection and revival of ecosystems all around the world, for the benefit of people and nature. It aims to halt the degradation of ecosystems, and restore them to achieve global goals. Only with healthy ecosystems can we enhance people’s livelihoods, counteract climate change, and stop the collapse of biodiversity.
As part of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has developed a digital Ecosystem Restoration Hub to connect the UN Decade restoration community in a digital meeting place. The Hub enables restoration implementors to connect and meet new partners, find initiatives to support, and share knowledge and best practices.
IUCN is a Global Partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, engaging in multiple ways to lead and support global, regional, and local restoration initiatives which contribute to the UN Decade. IUCN is currently supporting the UN Decade by acting as a Referring Partner through the Ecosystem Restoration Hub. The entire Union, including IUCN Secretariat, Members, Commission experts, and partners, are invited to share their restoration work through the Hub.
This 90-minute webinar will provide information on the UN Decade Ecosystem Restoration Hub, followed by presentations of projects from Africa which are featured on the Hub. The session will also offer a wider perspective on IUCN's restoration work in these regions. Members and partners alike are invited to attend. Simultaneous interpretation will be available.
This webinar is the second in a five-part series. Details on the series and other regional webinars are available on IUCN Engage:
