Freshwater Biodiversity and Conservation Specialist Seeking Programme, Project and Applied Research Opportunities
Hello IUCN colleagues,
I am currently exploring professional opportunities in freshwater biodiversity, species conservation, ecological assessment, aquatic ecology and applied conservation science.
I am an environmental researcher and PhD candidate based in Vienna, currently conducting applied research at the Austrian Federal Agency for Water Management on environmental pressures affecting freshwater fish. My work focuses on freshwater ecology, biodiversity conservation, environmental risk assessment, ecological data analysis and scientific communication.
Previously, I worked with WorldFish in Zambia as a Technical Officer in Fish Breeding and Genetics and as an Aquaculture Coordinator, gaining experience in project implementation, biological monitoring, stakeholder engagement, team coordination, fish health, data management and applied research.
I hold an International Joint MSc in Environmental Science, Limnology, and Wetland Management, completed through BOKU University, the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, and Egerton University. I am also a member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission Freshwater Fish Specialist Group.
My experience includes biodiversity monitoring, ecological assessment, freshwater fish conservation, aquatic biomonitoring, GIS, R, ecological data analysis, field surveys, environmental risk assessment, scientific writing, technical reporting, project coordination and stakeholder engagement. My research has also contributed to peer-reviewed publications in freshwater ecotoxicology, conservation physiology and fish biology.
I am particularly interested in opportunities as a Freshwater Biodiversity Specialist, Conservation Programme Officer, Biodiversity Project Officer, Species Conservation Officer, Freshwater Ecologist, Aquatic Ecologist, Biodiversity Monitoring Specialist, Conservation Scientist, Environmental Researcher or Technical Consultant.
I am especially interested in roles that connect scientific evidence with practical conservation action, freshwater ecosystem management, biodiversity monitoring, species conservation and evidence-based environmental decision-making.
I am based in Vienna, Austria, and open to opportunities across Europe and internationally.
If your organisation, programme or network is recruiting for roles aligned with my background, I would be very pleased to connect. I would also greatly appreciate recommendations, introductions or information about relevant opportunities within the IUCN community.
Thank you
