An easy way to reach Bruges is by flying to the Brussels International Airport (BRU) and taking the direct train from Brussels Airport to Bruges.

By plane

Via Brussels International Airport-Zaventem

  • There is a direct train to Bruges every hour (on weekdays). The journey takes approximately 80 minutes.

Via Brussels-South Charleroi Airport

  • It is also possible to reach Bruges by flying to Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL), which offers low-cost flights from many European cities. More information can be found here.

By train

National trains

  • There are several direct trains to Bruges from Antwerp, Ghent, Hasselt, Leuven and Brussels. For more information click here.

International trains

  • The Brussels-South (“Midi”) station is the Belgian hub for all international trains.
  • High-speed trains arrive in Brussels-South from:
    Paris (Thalys/Izy and TGV),
    Lille (Eurostar, Thalys and TGV)
    London (Eurostar)
    Amsterdam (NS InterCity, Thalys and Eurostar) 
    Cologne (Thalys and ICE)
  • There are three trains every hour from Brussel-South to Bruges on weekdays and two every hour on the weekend. The journey time is approximately 1 hour.
  • If you are travelling from Amsterdam or Rotterdam, you can also change trains at Antwerp Central. There is a direct train from Antwerp Central every hour. The journey time is approximately 1 hour.

By car

  • Bruges is located near the E40 motorway. Approximate driving distance from Brussels is 1 hour and from Antwerp it is 90 minutes.
  • There are 2 central car parks: Centrum-Station (€ 1.10/hr and € 5.50 for 24 hours) and Centrum-’t Zand (€ 14.40 for 24 hours). Both car parks are within walking distance of the BMCC.
  • The BMCC has an underground car park with 80 spaces for the building’s users and visitors, including 7 for people with disabilities and 6 for electric vehicles with charging stations. This is a paid parking.
  • Throughout the city centre the speed limit is 30 km per hour.

By bicycle

Bruges is a compact city, so you can easily cycle everywhere. The BMCC has a spacious underground bicycle parking facility.
