1. Protected areas - recognizing private protected areas and those established by local communities - Jan Woolhead, WCPA Europe SC
Identifying private protected areas and those protected by local communities can be challenging, but these protected areas could make significant contributions to the 30x30 goal. We will discuss their importance, and what should be done to recognize them.
2. Recognising OECMs as a cost-effective and sustainable approach to conserved areas of Europe - Olivier Hymas, WCPA Europe SC
Other effective area-based conservation measures have existed for a long time, yet only more recently has their potential been recognized to contribute to the 30x30 goal. An OECM manifesto will be presented and discussed.
3. Using AI and Big Data to enhance biodiversity conservation and monitoring efforts - Vanessa Berger and Daniel Todd Dalton
We aim to discuss the potential applications, benefits, and challenges of integrating these advanced technologies into current practices to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of biodiversity conservation.
