Organiser: World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)
In this 50-minute session, we will delve into the topic of Human-Wildlife Conflict (HWC) and introduce the C2C: Conflict to Coexistence Approach; an integrated and holistic approach for managing HWC.
This is a revision of the SAFE Systems Approach that WWF launched in 2015, and facilitates systematic planning, implementation, monitoring, and adaptive management of HWC. It recognises that HWC is a system which requires multiple, integrated and collaborative actions.
Through a stepwise, participatory multi-stakeholder process (involving specifically those directly affected by HWC), the C2C Approach promotes long-term management of HWC, while achieving short-term and intermediate results.
Designed in alignment with the IUCN SSC guidelines and CBD indicators for HWC and coexistence, and social and environmental safeguards, it offers a flexible framework that can be tailored to different scales, contexts and species.
This session, focusing on the theme of Conservation Outcomes, will consist of the following parts:
- General and broad introduction to the subject of Human-Wildlife Conflict ~ 10 min
