Vital Sites Webinar: The State of the Ranger: Celebrating the contributions of rangers to global conservation

ROWELY YEN PARICO

Rangers are at the heart of conservation. They are protecting biodiversity, upholding environmental laws, supporting communities, and increasingly acting as frontline defenders of climate resilience and peace.

In the lead-up to World Ranger Day (31 July), this webinar celebrates the vital role rangers play in building a safer, more just, and better-conserved world. Reflecting this year’s theme, “Powering Transformative Conservation,” the session will spotlight the inspiring stories of three rangers making a real impact on the ground.

Participants will also explore key insights from the Rangers for 30x30 framework and related standards developed by the Universal Ranger Support Alliance (URSA) and the International Ranger Federation (IRF), along with highlights from the Ranger Good Practice Guidelines, launched in 2024.

Looking ahead, the webinar will provide updates on key milestones for the ranger community, including the upcoming International Ranger Awards at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi this October.

Join us to hear from rangers, celebrate their leadership, and be part of the growing movement to support and strengthen the global ranger workforce.
