This webinar will bring together governments, regional organisations, development partners, the private sector, and civil society to share lessons learned from the implementation of plastic reduction initiatives across the Caribbean and explore opportunities to strengthen circular approaches to plastics management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The session will showcase experiences emerging from IUCN's Closing the Caribbean Plastic Tap Project, highlighting national leadership, innovative approaches to plastic recovery, and practical lessons generated through implementation across the project's five participating countries. Drawing on these experiences, the webinar will present regional perspectives on plastic waste streams and priority recyclable materials, while examining how stronger collaboration can support more resilient recovery systems and value chains for recovered plastics.
Participants will hear from regional experts who will share practical experiences and insights on advancing plastic reduction efforts, strengthening circular economy approaches, and identifying opportunities for greater regional cooperation. The session will also provide an opportunity for discussion on the lessons emerging across the Caribbean and how these experiences can help inform future policies, partnerships, and investments that support sustainable plastic waste management.
The webinar will contribute to sustaining and disseminating knowledge generated through the Closing the Caribbean Plastic Tap Project by making lessons learned, regional experiences, and practical approaches accessible to a broader audience beyond the lifetime of the project. By creating a platform for regional dialogue and knowledge exchange, the session aims to strengthen collaboration and support continued progress towards more integrated and sustainable approaches to plastic waste management across the Caribbean.
